Dear Cavalier Community,

Welcome March!  It is hard to believe we are more than halfway through the third quarter of the school year!  Time flies when you are having fun!  As your proud Superintendent, I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, staff, families, and community of Carrollton Public Schools. It remains a great day to be a Cavalier!

As we embrace the month of March, let us celebrate March Is Reading Month and the joys of reading. Let’s honor the contributions of women throughout history in recognition of Women's History Month. Let’s focus on healthy eating in recognition of National Nutrition Month. As we prepare for the conclusion of the third marking period, let’s concentrate on finishing on a strong note.

Reflecting on continuous improvement, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates with you:

  • Academically, our students are continuing to make growth in math and reading, and across the district there are more students who have made gains and are now in Tiers 1 and 2.

  • All of our educators participated in a district Day of Safety professional development, with the following topics: Threat Assessment, Narcan, Epipen and Fire Safety, Stop the Bleed and Active Shooter. It was a great day of learning, led by many experts from Saginaw County.

  • Additionally, our commitment to safety remains steadfast with the installation of the Raptor identification system in each building. There have also been many upgrades to our camera system. These enhancements reflect our dedication to creating a secure and efficient learning environment for all.

Stay tuned for more information about improvement efforts in the upcoming edition of the Community Connection near the end of the month.

As you consider your involvement in the school community, please save the date for these important March events:

  • Tuesday, March 11th, the Winter Sports Banquet will celebrate the hard work and dedication of our student athletes at Carrollton High School.  (5:30 pm, CHS cafeteria)

  • Thursday, March 13th, the third Community Forum of the 2024-2025 school year, where the open forum will offer a platform for open dialogue and collaboration.

  • Monday, March 17th, the regular Board Meeting will present an opportunity for learning about what is happening in the school district and how decisions are made by our Board of Education. (6:30 pm, CHS library)

I personally invite you to the third Community Forum that will focus on continuous improvement and initiatives aimed at ensuring the well-being of our students, staff, and community members. Your participation and input are crucial as we work together to create a secure and nurturing environment for everyone. Let’s continue to #BuildingStrongerTogether.

As always, I am available to you. I welcome the opportunity to meet, listen, and share ideas about ways to improve the whole child, whole family, and whole community experience for our students.  Please feel free to contact me by phone at 989-754-1475, ext. 0 or via email at tpeterson@gocavs.net, or a visit to central office by appointment.
