Dear Cavalier Community,
It is hard to believe we are in the homestretch of the 2024-2045 school year! Soon we will celebrate graduation milestones at every level of the district. That time of year is an opportunity to recognize the hard work of every student, educator, family, and community member. Time flies when you are learning, growing, and working together!
As your proud Superintendent, I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to serve our amazing students, staff, families, and community of Carrollton Public Schools. It remains a great day to be a Cavalier!
Reflecting on continuous improvement and celebration, I am thrilled to share some exciting updates with you:
All of Carrollton Public Schools staff participated in a Day of Safety PD in February to ensure that every educator has knowledge about and awareness of safety practices, protocols, and procedures. It was an impactful day of hands-on learning and opportunity to ask questions, make suggestions, and leave the PD better prepared in the event of an emergency. A huge thank you to our community partners who led our training: Lt. Mark Przbylski, Saginaw County Emergency Manager; Officer Jeffrey Fenton, Saginaw Township Police Department; Laura Walker, Covenant Healthcaroe; and the Carrollton Township Fire Department and MMR staff.
Our third of four Community Forums for the 2024-2025 school year took place in mid March. It was an “open forum,” where families and members of the community brought their ideas, questions, and concerns to our administrative team for robust discussion. We are grateful for the team effort to make Carrollton Public Schools the #DestinationDistrict.
The CES culminating event for March is Reading Month was so awesome! The theme this year was “Peace, Love and Reading,” and the turnout of students, families, staff, and community members made the event a huge success. Everything from reading activities, to drawings for prizes, reading games, free books and stuffed animals, story time - and of course pizza, a childhood favorite - were all available for our Cavaliers! There is footage of the event on our Carrollton Public Schools Facebook page. Check it out!
More updates, milestones, and celebrations of our Cavaliers can be found by following our Carrollton Public Schools and building Facebook pages. We believe in recognizing the accomplishments of our students and staff!
April is state testing month where students all across Michigan will take one or all of the following assessments (MSTEP, PSAT, SAT, or WorkKeys). In addition, April is also when our students take their final NWEA assessment for the school year. Families may expect a schedule of testing days and times from each building principal. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s rest, eats breakfast, and gives their best effort every day, but particularly during testing. This helps to ensure every student puts academics first and our school district remains in good standing. Assessment for continuous improvement in learning and instruction continues to matter in Carrollton. We are looking forward to seeing how much our Cavaliers have learned this school year!
A few important dates for the upcoming months are:
Kindergarten and Young 5’s Egg-Hunt and Registration - April 24th, 4 - 6pm (see Early Learning Centers website and Facebook pages for details)
Community Forum - May 8th, 5:30 - 7pm, CMS cafeteria
Omni High School and Carrollton High School Commencements - May 22nd, 4pm & 6pm, respectively
Please save the dates. I would love to see you there!
As always, I am available to you. I welcome the opportunity to meet, listen, and share ideas about ways to improve the whole child, whole family, and whole community experience for our students.
